Buckland Fire & Rescue is a non-profit co-operative, charitable organization and a separate entity from the RM, it is run by a Board of Directors that are elected by the members.
13 directors serve on the board, with three year terms. These individuals are elected at the Annual General Meeting of the members, usually held in the spring of each year.
From those elected to serve on the board of directors a Chairman, Vice-Chairman and the Executive are chosen.
The Fire Chief and Secretary/Treasurer are contracted positions selected by the board, each having designated duties and terms.
The legislation guiding decisions made by the directors are outlined in the by-laws of Buckland Fire & Rescue and the Co-operatives Act of 1996.
